Mission Youth
Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 27, 2026
Mission Youth is a discipleship app for church youth groups, operated by Versify Interactive
("we," "us," "our"). We built it for families and youth leaders, and we take the privacy of
the children and families who use it seriously. This policy explains what we collect, how we
use it, and the choices you have.
The short version: Students never sign themselves up. A child's account is
created only after a youth leader invites a parent and that parent gives consent. We don't
show ads, we don't sell anyone's information, and we don't use third‑party advertising
trackers. You can ask us to delete an account at any time.
Who uses Mission Youth
The app has three types of users:
- Leaders — youth‑group leaders who manage missions, events, and their group.
- Parents/guardians — who enroll their children and can take part on their behalf.
- Students — the children who participate, enrolled only by a consenting parent.
What we collect
Information you provide
- Account information — for parents and leaders: name, mobile phone number, and (for leaders) email address, plus a PIN or password used to sign in.
- Children's information — entered by the parent or leader, not the child: the student's first and last name, date of birth, grade level, and gender. Date of birth is used to apply extra privacy protections for children under 13.
- Optional health & safety information — a parent or leader may add allergy, medical, or emergency‑contact details for events. This is optional and visible only to the child's own parent and their group's leaders.
- Content created in the app — mission submissions, prayer requests, notes, and similar activity a student or leader chooses to share within their group.
Information collected automatically
- Usage & progress — activity within the app such as missions completed, XP, badges, streaks, and event RSVPs, used to run the game features.
- Device information for notifications — if you enable push notifications, we store a device token so we can deliver them.
We do not collect precise location, and we do not use third‑party advertising or analytics trackers that profile users.
How we use information
- To create and operate accounts and run the app's features (missions, teams, prayer, events, and approvals).
- To send account and activity notifications, including SMS verification and reminders to the phone number on the account.
- To keep the service secure and to comply with our legal obligations.
Children's privacy & parental consent
Mission Youth is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. A child's account is
created only after a youth leader invites the parent and the parent provides verifiable consent,
and a confirmation is sent to the parent's phone number. Parents can review their child's
information, ask us to correct it, refuse further collection, or request deletion at any time by
contacting us at the address below.
How information is shared
We do not sell personal information. We share it only:
- Within the child's youth group — a student's name, progress, and content they share are visible to their own parent and to the leaders of their group.
- With service providers — trusted vendors who help us operate the app (for example, cloud hosting and SMS delivery), who may process information only on our behalf.
- When required by law — if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or protect safety.
Data retention & deletion
We keep information for as long as an account is active. Parents can remove a child's account,
and leaders and parents can request full deletion of their data by contacting us. We will delete
or de‑identify the information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to meet
a legal obligation.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information, including
encrypted connections and hashed credentials. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly
secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to those who need it.
Your choices
- Turn push notifications on or off in your device settings.
- Review, update, or request deletion of your account or your child's account by contacting us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date
above, and significant changes will be communicated through the app or by other appropriate means.
